Three Easy Recipes For Clean Eating in Quarantine

These recipes are creamy, savory, salty, sweet and oh SO simple to create on your own....even if you are still adjusting to your new role as chef while we're all staying home!

While we can't wait to get back to gathering at our events again, we are loving this new way to connect with our community during this time of social distancing and are looking forward to sharing lots more recipes with everyone in this new medium soon!

This weekend we had the best time putting together our very first virtual cooking class for Hope + Hale's online wellness retreat where Melissa showed everyone how to make these three super simple recipes that are packed with great ingredients (including fresh chicken eggs, Jenny D's Bees local honey, small batch bone broth from The Hale and sea salt from Duxbury Saltworks) to help improve the immune system and combat symptoms of stress!

First up was the Superfood Frittata made with fresh chicken eggs, caramelized onion, sauteed kale, shiitake mushroom, and our new favorite secret ingredient for dairy free frittatas, The Hale bone broth!

BONE BROTH contains glutamine which has been proven to help heal the intestinal barrier and improve overall gut health.

CHICKEN EGGS are a great source of vitamin D, an essential nutrient required by the body to maintain balanced energy and mental health.

ONIONS contain sulfur, a natural chemical element that has been shown to help remove toxins from the body.

SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS are rich in adaptogens that help the body to balance hormones and combat symptoms of stress.

BABY KALE is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet with high levels of antioxidants that help prevent damage to cells.

COCONUT OIL helps aid in the absorption of fat-soluble components like vitamins and magnesium

This nutrient dense dish is SO comforting and makes an amazing meal or perfect snack for anytime of day! Find the full recipe here.

Next Melissa showed everyone how to make this ridiculously easy crunch salad recipe with blueberries, butter beans, local honey from Jenny D's Bees and Duxbury Saltworks' rose, savory and chive infused Spring Sea Salt.

LOCAL HONEY contains a blend of local pollens, which can strengthen a person's immune system, and reduce pollen allergy symptoms.

BLUEBERRIES are rich in antioxidants that help to prevent oxidative damage to cells.

BUTTER BEANS are rich in plant proteins that play an essential role in muscle repair.

CARROTS contain beta carotene which helps to increase the bioavailability of vitamin a found in foods.

CUCUMBERS contain about 96% water making them a great source of food based hydration.

CITRUS contains vitamin C which helps to boost the immune system.

This salad makes a beautiful breakfast and pairs perfectly with lean protein for a crunchy lunch or light dinner! Find the full recipe here.

Last, but certainly not least, Melissa taught everyone how to make this delicious Wellness Hummus with turmeric, lemon, ginger, chickpeas and sea salt from Duxbury Saltworks!

TURMERIC is a powerful antioxidant shown to reduce inflammation and improve depression.

LEMON JUICE is packed with vitamin C and has been proven to help fight infections and maintain pH balance.

GINGER is loaded with gingerol, a powerful antioxidant linked with improved immune function, better digestion and reduced inflammation.

SEA SALT is full of necessary nutrients and trace minerals that play an essential role in many of our body's vital functions.

BLACK PEPPER is rich in piperine, which helps to increase the bioavailabity of turmeric's health benefits during digestion and protect against damage to cells.

CHICKPEAS are great source of magnesium, potassium, fiber and plant based proteins, all of which play a role in proper digestion and gut health.

This delicious dip is lighter than traditional hummus and also makes a delicious dressing when blended with a little extra liquid! Find the full recipe here.
